Meet the teacher

Hello My Name Is...

Laura Rouse

I have been a kindergarten teacher at Northeast Elementary since 1992 (25 years) and have loved every minute of it! I grew up here in Wayne County and graduated from Eastern Wayne High School. I attended THE University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (GO HEELS!) and received a BA in Elementary Education. Later, I went to ECU to complete my masters degree also in Elementary Education. I was fortunate to find this job right out of college and have been here ever since. I married a sweet fellow from Lenoir County named Scott and we have 3 beautiful children. My oldest is Ben and he is a senior at NCSU majoring in Civil Engineering. My middle daughter, Hallie is a senior at CBA and will be making major life decisions throughout this year. Finally, my youngest is Annsleigh and she is in seventh grade at Norwayne Middle School. All of them keep this mama busy.
I also have a very sweet puppy who is almost 3 years old. Her name is Ellie and she is spoiled rotten. My hobbies all revolve around my children...watching them play baseball, cheer, play volleyball, basketball and softball. I joke I spend more time on a field than I do at home and it's probably true. My husband would say I spend more time at Starbucks...where frappuccino's are my FAVORITE.
I look forward to working with you and teaching your child this year. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about anything.
