About Mrs. Van Lenten . . .

I attended the University of Rhode Island, where I earned a
Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Psychology. 
I also attended Montclair State University (NJ) where I
completed numerous graduate level courses
in the area of Educational Psychology. 
 
I have been teaching for 16 and a half years. 
I taught in northern New Jersey for 6 and a half years
before moving to Goldsboro, NC in June 2006. 
I have taught for 10 years in NC.
I have taught 3rd grade, 4th grade, 5th grade, 6th grade,
as well as Preschool and middle school math (grades 6-8). 
I taught 3rd grade for two years at Eastern Wayne Elementary. 
I have taught 5th grade at Northeast Elementary for 8 years now.
 
 
Some other things you may like to know about
Mrs. Van Lenten:
  • I have one daughter - who is 7.5 years old (Aug 2016) and is now in 2nd grade
  • I have one son - who is now 4.5 years old (Aug 2016) and is in Pre-K
  • I collect pigs - pig figurines that is - not the real ones! :)
  • I have one younger sister who lives in Colorado
  • I LOVE chocolate - all forms of chocolate - especially M&Ms (peanut M&Ms are my favorite!)
  • I LOVE ice cream! If it's some sort of chocolate ice cream that's even better!  And I love ice cream in a waffle cone....YUMMY!
  • I am not a very good cook (luckily my husband is!)
  • I like for things to be neat and organized - although my desk in my classroom never seems to look this way!
  • my favorite color to wear is red
  • I like to shop (expect grocery shopping)
  • my favorite type of books to read are nonfiction books - I enjoy learning new facts
  • I really enjoy learning about history
  • my favorite subjects are . . . math, science, history . . . and I need to be able to read to learn about each of them!  (I really do like all subjects, as they each are so important.)
  • I love to take LOTS of pictures!
